Macmillan Christmas Fair
A staggering £39,000 was raised at the 2014 Macmillan Christmas Fair – the biggest amount in the event’s 23-year history!
Our annual event, which raises vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in Cornwall, always heralds the start of the season of goodwill in the county, and this year was no exception.
After a sparkling debut at the Eden Project last year, the Macmillan Christmas Fair returned to the world-famous visitor attraction for the second year. Featuring an abundance of gifts and home accessories, clothing and jewellery through to an array of the finest produce in the Ginsters Food Hall, the Eden Kitchen (the space between the biomes) once again hosted more than 45 stallholders from Cornwall and beyond.
Along with all the organising team giving their time free of charge, stallholders also very generously donated 15% of all their takings from both the preview evening and the main fair day to help bolster the total amount raised. This was in addition to the kind support from a number of business sponsors from across Cornwall and helped along by the Eden Project, which offered all fair-goers free entry to Eden itself to ensure all funds went straight to Macmillan.
Caroline Tetley, Chairman, Cornwall Macmillan Christmas Fair, said: “Over the last 23 years our fair has raised in excess of £469,000 and on behalf of all the organising committee I’d like to thank everyone involved with the event’s continued success. From the stallholders and business sponsors, through to the Eden Project and the guests themselves, we’re very grateful that this year’s Macmillan Christmas Fair has been the biggest yet both in terms of both visitors and the money raised.”
Caroline added: “The total sum raised this year really is quite staggering and I know I speak for the Macmillan Cancer Support team in Cornwall when I say how vitally important charitable donations are to help ensure support services can continue to run.”
The 2014 Cornwall Macmillan Christmas Fair was sponsored by Lillicrap Chilcott,Ginsters, First Great Western, Charles Stanley, Hodgsons, South West Water, Midas,Karen Jackson Design, Headland Printers, Wild Card, MailAway and St Austell Brewery.
